The tightening of internet censorship affects businesses more strongly than individual users. Even outside the context of potential regional connectivity issues, companies are held to high security standards: they must protect both corporate and user data from leaks and cyberattacks.
On top of that, the unavailability of work tools — CRM systems, social media, and project management software — affects revenue. In some regions, this is compounded by network restrictions, unstable routing, stricter DPI filtering, “whitelists,” and other difficulties.
In these dire circumstances, VPN services lend a helping hand. However, they not only restore access to the necessary resources but also increase the security of the corporate network, and, in some cases, become an independent source of revenue.
In this article, we will explain what business tasks VPN services solve — using Amnezia Business as an example.
Corporate VPNs Use Cases
Small businesses value speed, so they look for an easy-to-use solution. At the same time, large companies need additional control. Both want the service to work reliably, mask traffic, and minimize risks such as data processing by third parties.
Let’s take a look at the tasks we solve within Amnezia Business.
Restore Access to Familiar Services
A corporate VPN brings back favorite tools for remote employees, even in regions with a high level of internet censorship in mobile networks.
Establish a Presence in Difficult Markets
A dedicated server streamlines bureaucratic processes with government agencies.
Protect Corporate Data
SMBs and large players alike are forced to regulate remote employees’ access. Using home Wi‑Fi networks — not to mention public ones in cafes and hotels — creates risks for businesses. In particular, MitMMan-in-the-Middle (also known as AitMAdversary-in-the-Middle) attacks involving the interception of information between sender and recipient threaten the leaks of sensitive data.
The same applies to BYODBring Your Own Device policies, which allow employees to use personal devices for work. Although this approach simplifies and speeds up work, it requires strict cybersecurity measures from companies. In this context, VPN services reduce the risk of data leaks because the connection goes through protected channels.
Static public IP addresses also help separate and control access to sensitive data. Authorized employees receive such an identifier for going online, while others use a different server. These addresses are also more resistant to mass blocks: even if regulators cut off the overcrowded IPs in the VPN service’s arsenal, dedicated identifiers will hold the line.
Tap Into an Additional Source of Revenue
A number of clients work under a white-label model — we provide them with a set of VPN products that are distributed under the partner’s brand.
Save Time
We optimize the workflows of different companies in several countries, including:
- game studios,
- transportation organizations,
- IT corporations,
- marketing agencies,
- medical equipment suppliers,
- and even an enterprise that services funiculars.
We process user requests for Amnezia Business on a priority basis. This is especially important for clients in countries with a high level of internet censorship, where network access problems are the norm rather than the exception.
How Amnezia VPN Corporate Subscriptions Work
Within Amnezia Business, there are two plans available.
Basic
Suitable for small and medium-sized businesses with teams of 20 to 100 people. Under this plan, we provide:
- Four connection locations — Germany, the Netherlands, the United States, and Singapore. Additional countries are available on request.
- Access to a Telegram bot that allows you to manage subscriptions.
- Priority technical support with a separate communication channel for partners.
- Access to VLESS and AmneziaWG protocols for connection.
- Corporate-stack VPN, tailored to the organization’s current software and fully isolated from Free and Premium users. As a result, access to the internet is made possible by circumventing the blocks.
- Access to static IP addresses in a number of regions.
Custom
A plan for large companies with more than 100 employees. In addition to all the benefits of Basic, it also:
- Grants access to dedicated infrastructure deployed for your company.
- Allows centralized subscription management through a dedicated portal.
- Makes it possible to distribute rights across teams within the company — for example, to grant access to different servers depending on tasks.
- Guarantees our help with router setup for your infrastructure.
Let’s look at some functions and services in more detail.
Features and Benefits of Amnezia VPN for Business
We restore access to internet resources, build a protected space, and encrypt traffic, making it private — free of hassle for employees.
Anticensorship CDN
If your app or site is blocked in a specific country, we route traffic to it through an intermediate server so that users do not have to turn on a VPN. The end-user experience will be seamless.
Personal Account
It allows the company to manage access to our solutions, including:
- creating and deleting accounts,
- setting device number limits — up to five for each employee (or more, on request),
- searching for users within the corporate database — relevant for medium and large businesses,
- tracking the number of active users,
- managing key and server groups — for example, to separate HR and C-level access rights.
At the time of publication, we are testing the personal account in pre-release. Until the full release, its functions are handled by a Telegram bot that issues and reissues configurations. The personal account will be available to all Amnezia Business users.
Priority Technical Support
For each client, we assign a support specialist. In addition, users have access to a Telegram bot that provides connection keys.
Support is available to all Amnezia Business users.
On-Premise Format
We deploy network infrastructure inside an already established one. Thus, we adapt the VPN service to your specifics, ensuring the organization’s privacy and security.
Static and Dedicated IP Addresses
Under the Custom plan, we issue unique IP addresses assigned to your company. Unlike shared identifiers, they are less vulnerable to blocks, DDoS attacks, and other threats to the business.
GDPR Compliance
If you work with data of EU citizens, VPN services become a technological foundation: we encrypt channels and also simplify access control. Thanks to this, it is easier for you to protect users’ personal data and pass security audits.
Our solution runs on proven protocols, including our original tool — AmneziaWG.
We use open source, can’t see your data, and regularly undergo security audits.
Weak Points of Corporate VPNs
Despite the advantages above, business VPNs still have soft spots.
Zero Trust Issues
The Zero Trust model implies strict access control for users — usually through regular requests to enter credentials in corporate systems. At the same time, the verification model built on VPN implies access for any employee connected through a secure tunnel.
Some cybersecurity researchers claim these approaches are incompatible, but based on our experience, these formats complement each other. Even an authorized user can become the target of a MitM/AitM attack — in this scenario, the VPN tunnel will protect them.
Access for Providers
Although VPN traffic hides endpoints and transmitted information, ISPs still see the fact of a VPN connection itself, the volume of transmitted traffic, and other data. This is still more reliable than an unsecured connection, but it is important to keep this in mind.
Not a Panacea Against Cyberattacks
As we have already said, VPN services can protect employees from MitM/AitM attacks, but other threats remain.
A vivid example is phishing, which relies entirely on the human factor. In such attacks, malicious actors impersonate government organizations, counterparties, or potential clients to gain access to sensitive data. A VPN alone will not save naive employees who share trade secrets with strangers.
Many Problems, One VPN
VPN is a tool for solving various tasks, including corporate ones. In this context, they primarily:
- provide uninterrupted access to tools and sites,
- ensure communication between employees, thereby increasing productivity,
- reduce cybersecurity risks and unauthorized access to data.
