Amnezia VPN 5.1.0.6: Favorite Locations and Country Sorting

The latest version of Amnezia VPN makes choosing a location easier and introduces separate logs.

Amnezia VPN 5.1.0.6: location search and sorting, favorite regions, and separate logs. We explain what changed and how to update the app.

Amnezia VPN 5.1.0.6 is out, and it brings location sorting (yes, we’d been waiting a long time to roll this out too!).

Here’s what the new release has in store.

How Location Sorting, Search, and Favorites Work

The number of locations available in Amnezia Premium has passed 50, and that number will keep growing. With that in mind, we’ve made navigation easier.

A “Filters” button with two options has appeared to the right of the search field:

  • By region — countries are grouped by part of the world and alphabetically within the region.
  • Alphabetically in a single list.

Find countries through the search bar and add up to 15 locations you use often to your Favorites — just tap the star (☆). The feature is also available on the “Config files” screen.

Keep in mind that the location list is saved on your device and tied to your subscription key. This means your Favorites on your phone may differ from your Favorites on your home computer. At the same time, the location list won’t go anywhere if you update the app itself or restart your device.

The only way to reset the Favorites list is to delete the app, restart your device, and reinstall Amnezia VPN. No idea why you’d need this information, but now you know it.

At the same time, you can transfer your Favorites between devices through the backup available in “Settings”

A Local Proxy for Amnezia Premium in Desktop Browsers

Do you use Premium on Windows, macOS, or Linux but don’t want to set up a full VPN tunnel? For such cases, we’ve added an Xray proxy at 127.0.0.1, with port 10808 by default. It works without a VPN tunnel and routes browser traffic through Premium servers. It's limited to only one subscription at a time and stops when you turn on the VPN.

This feature also requires the CensorTracker extension.

What’s Up with Auto-Location and Ping

We see your requests in our channels and support chats about auto-location and sorting by ping. Designing and rolling out these features takes time. We want Amnezia VPN to be not only a convenient app but also a secure one. Sometimes — right now, for example — these two wishes are hard to reconcile, and at this stage the service’s stability matters more to us.

The concept is ready, development is in full swing, and we’ll share news as soon as we’ve got everything polished

What Else Changed in the App

  • Logs. We’ve separated the app logs and the tunnel logs, and you’ll be able to view them before sending. Catching bugs will become easier, as will choosing the format to send them to support — as an archive or as a specific file.
  • Connection. We’ve sorted out how Xray works for Self-hosted servers using XHTTP and XMUX. We also fixed several minor bugs, including improving connections from mobile operators for all users.
  • Switzerland. Our P2P location has become two-way — data now not only downloads through it but also uploads. The UPnPUniversal Plug and Play set of network protocols is also available within it — with it, you can, for example, easily set up a home Minecraft server and play with friends.
  • Design. If you’ve noticed that some components look different, don’t be alarmed — we’ve updated the design system. It’s preparation for the redesign we’ll come back to you with in the next release.
  • New languages: Thai and Indonesian.
  • Linux kernel updates through the app for Self-hosted. In light of the recent critical vulnerability, we’ve added an Update server packages button to the server management panel. You’ll find it in the Management section. Once the updates are installed, click Reboot server. This mechanism applies to all large-scale vulnerabilities, not just CVE-2026-98432.

How to Update Amnezia VPN to Version 5.1.0.6

  • In the app: Settings → About Amnezia VPN → Check for updates. On desktop, the update will install itself — no need to go to GitHub.
  • Through the Download section on our site.
  • From the app store: via our pages in the App Store and Google Play.

Why Update

We release improved versions of the app often. They make bypassing blocking more effective and fix bugs. We stay ahead of restrictions so that you stay online and the app runs without interruptions.

Most problems can be solved through the documentation section. For everything else, there’s a unified Amnezia Hub bot.

Coming Soon

  • We’ll implement switching locations without dropping the connection.
  • We’ll refine split tunneling and make it available by domain. For desktop — with a specified working file (gamers, куощшсу!). We’ll also improve connection stability when working with large domain lists for split tunneling.
  • We’ll make managing Self-hosted more transparent.
